Eritrea
Eritrea is located in the Horn of Africa, bordered by the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the west, Ethiopia to the south, and Djibouti to the north. Covering an area of approximately 117,600 square kilometers, its geography is diverse, ranging from coastal regions to highlands, with significant climate variations. Historically, Eritrea was an Italian colony and began a thirty-year struggle for independence from Ethiopia in 1961, finally achieving independence in 1993. Eritrea boasts a rich cultural heritage influenced by Arab, African, and Italian traditions, with the main ethnic groups being the Eritreans, Afars, and Beja. The official languages are Tigrinya, Arabic, and English. Economically, Eritrea is primarily agricultural, with key crops including grains and coffee, while mining is also developing, particularly in gold, silver, and copper extraction. Socially, Eritrea has a relatively developed education and healthcare system, but political conditions are strict, limiting social freedoms. For tourism, Eritrea attracts visitors with its unique natural landscapes and historical sites, such as the modernist architecture of Asmara, diving spots along the Red Sea, and ancient ruins like the city of Aksum. Visitors should be aware of local laws and regulations, respect local cultures, especially in religious contexts, and stay informed about safety conditions to choose appropriate travel methods.
