Nepal, located in South Asia, is nestled between China and India at the southern foothills of the Himalayas. Covering an area of approximately 147,516 square kilometers, its diverse terrain ranges from plains to high mountains, including the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. Nepal has a rich history, being the birthplace of several kingdoms, particularly the ancient Newar and Malla kingdoms. Culturally, Nepal is a multi-ethnic nation with major ethnic groups including the Newars, Tamangs, and Madhesis, with Hinduism and Buddhism being the predominant religions. Its rich cultural heritage attracts numerous tourists. Economically, agriculture is the mainstay, with about 70% of the workforce engaged in agricultural production, while tourism is also a significant economic pillar, especially for trekking, mountaineering, and cultural tourism. Highlights include Mount Everest, Pokhara Lake, Bhaktapur, and the ancient temples of Kathmandu. Visitors should be aware of altitude sickness and are advised to acclimatize to the elevation beforehand to maintain good health. Additionally, Nepal's transportation infrastructure is relatively underdeveloped, so planning ahead for travel is recommended.
